Review of Banknote Distribution Arrangements: Issues Paper

In January 2022, we responded to the Reserve Bank of Australia’s Review of Banknote Distribution Arrangements: Issues Paper.

In our submission, we emphasised AusPayNet’s readiness to assist the RBA in achieving its goals of ensuring an effective, efficient, sustainable, and resilient Australian cash system. We recognised that while there has been a substantial reduction in the transactional use of cash, it remains an important store of value and backup payment mechanism and it is therefore essential that, if demanded, cash is readily and reliably available.
