As the world of card payments becomes increasingly complex, our Issuers and Acquirers Community provides a forum for cooperation and collaboration among financial institutions, card schemes, and other participants in the cards payment system.

In Australia, commercial schemes provide debit and credit payment systems - the international credit and debit card schemes (Visa, MasterCard, American Express etc.) and the domestic debit card scheme, eftpos.

Each scheme administers rules and standards for participation in its particular system.

The Issuers and Acquirers Community (IAC) brings a wide range of participants and system operators together to develop, implement and operate effective standards, policies and procedures to support innovation.

Approved Devices

We provide security rules and standards for the approval and operation of ATMs, POS terminals and other PIN entry devices that accept debit card transactions in Australia.

Device Approval Process

AusPayNet’s process for approval of devices includes approval via registration with a valid Attestation of Compliance (AOC) and approval via registration under a structured risk assessment for devices, solutions or non-standard technologies without an AOC.
