AES Migration Program Updates

February 2025

Phase 2a of the AES migration program has commenced, with a focus on pilot preparation activities, including elaboration of the following documentation:

• Technical Blueprint to include Standards Australia’s developed AS2805 Messaging Standards
   
• Migration Strategy, which articulates typical participant migration journeys to AES
   
• Industry Test Strategy and Certification, with detailed test cases and processes for migrations to AES.

Additional documentation will be developed in 2025 to support commencement of pilot migrations to AES in 2026, including:

• Program Governance and Reporting Framework to support the program through to a successful completion
   
• Program Assurance Strategy (including a Migration Success Framework) for continuous independent assurance of the program to completion
   
• Industry Change and Communications Strategy, ensuring engagement with participants of the program, including government, regulators, and other bodies
   
• Changes to the Issuers and Acquirers Community (IAC) Code Set, ensuring the relevant rules and regulations are in place to support AES
   
• Detailed plans for pilot migrations, including entry and exit criteria, aligned with the Migration Strategy.

In December 2024, the inaugural meeting of the AES Migration Steering Committee was held. This committee will provide guidance and oversight of the program through to completion.
