Our vibrant network supports Australia’s thriving payments system.

Australian Payments Network champions the payments system. We enable competition and innovation, promote efficiency, and control and manage risk to deliver improvements for all users of the payments system.

With a strong focus on collaboration, our role includes:

  • inspiring innovation
  • facilitating self-regulation
  • coordinating system-wide standards
  • policy development

Our network includes more than 150 members and participants and we welcome involvement from all organisations with a significant interest in payments.

Membership

We bring together a diverse range of organisations to help payments thrive.

There are four broad membership categories:

  • Participant members: organisations that directly participate in the payments system
  • Operator members: commercial operators of payment systems, technology companies
  • Affiliate members: suppliers of goods and services to card issuers, acquirers and schemes
  • Payment service provider members: technology companies that facilitate payments functions relating to the electronic payment of money in Australia

Meet the Board

John Brogden AM

Chair - MPA, FAICD

Mr Brogden was appointed as independent Chair in January 2022. Mr Brogden is an experienced Chairman, Non-Executive Director, Executive and former Member of Parliament with more than 30 years’ experience in the public sector, financial services, professional associations, and not-for-profit organisations.

Lynda McMillan

Deputy Chair - MBus, GAICD

Ms McMillan is Head of Payments Representation at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. She was appointed as a director in April 2018 and was appointed by the Board as Deputy Chair in December 2019.

Andy White

CEO – BA (Hons), MA (Oxon), GAICD

Mr White was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and a director of AusPayNet in March 2019.  He has over 25 years’ international experience, incorporating roles at the Bank of England, LCH.Clearnet and the ASX.

Bianca Bates

BEc, LLB, GAID

Ms Bates is the Managing Director and Head of Payments, Australia & New Zealand at JP Morgan.  She was appointed by the Electing Members as a director in October 2023.

Jennifer Clark

FAICD

Ms Clark has an extensive background in business, finance and governance through a career as a Non-Executive Director since 1991 and as a Banker for over 20 years. She was appointed as an independent director in June 2014.

Nish Dharmaratne

MBA, MCIM, F FIN

Mrs Dharmaratne is the Managing Director, Head of Product - Global Transaction Banking at Westpac Group. She was appointed by the Westpac Banking Corporation as a director in July 2023.

Jackie Kallman

BPsychSc(Hons), GAICD

Ms Kallman is Head of Payments Industry and Engagement at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited. She was appointed as a director in April 2018.

Adrian Lovney

LLB(Hons), MBA, F FIN

Mr Lovney is Chief Strategy & Operating Officer at Australian Payments Plus Limited. He was appointed by Electing Members as a director in October 2022.

Dr Greg Moore

BBA, MLS(Hons), PhD, CA, GAICD

Dr Moore is Division Director at Macquarie Bank Limited. He was appointed by Electing Members as a director in October 2022.

Kate Mulligan

BA, LLB(Hons), MAICD

Ms Mulligan has more than 28 years’ experience in financial services, business and the law, including senior roles at Allens, St George Bank and ANZ. She was appointed as an independent director in June 2014.

Dr Michael Plumb

BEc(Hons), MEc(Hons), DPhil(Oxon)

Dr Plumb is Head of Banking at the Reserve Bank of Australia. He was appointed by the Reserve Bank of Australia as a director in April 2022.

Dianne Shay

BTh, MAICD

Ms Shay is Head of Payments Industry at National Australia Bank Limited.  She was appointed by National Australia Bank as a director in December 2019.

Derek Weatherley

BComm, MAcc, FAICD

Mr Weatherley is Chief Executive Officer at Indue Limited. He was appointed by Credit Union members as a director in April 2018.

Meet our Executive Team

Andy White

Chief Executive Officer

Andy has over 25 years’ international experience, incorporating roles at the Bank of England, LCH.Clearnet and the Australian Securities Exchange. He is a graduate of Oxford University and AICD. Andy also holds advisory roles on the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, Emerging Payments Association Asia, and the editorial board of the Journal of Payments Strategy and Systems.

Paula Gilardoni

General Counsel & Company Secretary

Paula has over 20 years’ experience advising on legal, regulatory and strategic matters in the payments industry. Prior to joining AusPayNet, she was General Counsel at a payments fintech and a partner at KPMG Law and Gilbert + Tobin before that.

Lynette Hickey

Chief Financial Officer

Lynette brings over 20 years of finance and business management experience to AusPayNet. She has held various senior management roles within PwC, predominately the Assurance and Business Advisory Group working with start-ups through to large multinationals. Most recently Lynette was the CFO for the Converga Group.

Rajat Jain

Chief Strategy Officer

Rajat has over 20 years of payments industry experience in strategy and transformation roles. He was a Partner at Deloitte before joining AusPayNet, and led their payments practice in Australia from 2017-22. Prior to that, he served at American Express in the US, Australia, and Singapore for over a decade, including as Head of Strategy for A/ NZ and as Head of Consulting and Business Transformation for APAC & Japan. Rajat is a merit-listed Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Lauren Johnson

Chief People and Culture Officer

Lauren has spent over 15 years in leadership roles in both business facing and people & culture capacities. She has spent the last 10 years in executive HR management, partnering with leaders to shape the people agenda. Most recently Lauren was the Human Resources Director for a global quantitative financial trading organisation.

Luke Wilson

Chief Operating Officer

Luke has worked in the payments and financial services industries throughout Asia Pacific. He has held executive roles across various functions including operations, customer acquisition and relationship management. Luke’s experience in these industries spans 20 years, most recently as Chief Customer Officer at Indue and prior to that in various executive roles at Experian and First Data.
