Issuers and Acquirers Community
As the world of card payments becomes increasingly complex, our Issuers and Acquirers Community provides a forum for cooperation and collaboration among financial institutions, card schemes, and other participants in the cards payment system.
In Australia, commercial schemes provide debit and credit payment systems - the international credit and debit card schemes (Visa, MasterCard, American Express etc.) and the domestic debit card scheme, eftpos.
Each scheme administers rules and standards for participation in its particular system.
The Issuers and Acquirers Community (IAC) brings a wide range of participants and system operators together to develop, implement and operate effective standards, policies and procedures to support innovation.
The IAC sets security rules and standards for the approval and operation of ATMs, POS terminals and other card-present devices that accept card transactions in Australia. The Device Approval Process document includes details on accepted standards, the Structured Risk Assessment process and the handling of expiration dates.
Devices and solutions approved by an Approved Standard Entity that comply with an Accepted Standard can be used within the IAC.
Lists of approved devices are maintained by the applicable Approved Standards Entity.
AusPayNet uses a Structured Risk Assessment process to consider devices and solutions for which Accepted Standards to not apply.
Devices approved through the SRA process are searchable using the links below. An application form is available from the tiles below.
