Our vibrant network supports Australia’s thriving payments system.

Australian Payments Network champions the payments system. We enable competition and innovation, promote efficiency, and control and manage risk to deliver improvements for all users of the payments system.

With a strong focus on collaboration, our role includes:

  • inspiring innovation
  • facilitating self-regulation
  • coordinating system-wide standards
  • policy development

Our network includes more than 120 members and participants and we welcome involvement from all organisations with a significant interest in payments.


We bring together a diverse range of organisations to help payments thrive.

There are three broad membership categories:

  • Participant members: organisations that directly participate in the payments system
  • Operator members: commercial operators of payment systems, technology companies
  • Affiliate members: suppliers of goods and services to card issuers, acquirers and schemes

Meet the Board

Robert Craig

Chair - BSc (Hons), BCA, MAICD

Mr Craig was appointed a director and independent Chair of Australian Payments Network in January 2014. Prior to 2008, his 25-year career in financial services included senior roles at Westpac Banking Corporation, National Australia Bank, Bank of New Zealand and National Westminster Bank.

Anne Collard

Deputy Chair - B Ec (Hons), MAICD

Ms Collard is Head of Payments Industry & Capabilities, Wholesale Digital & Transformation at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited. She was appointed by Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited as a director in September 2016 and was appointed by the Board as Deputy Chair in January 2018.

Leila Fourie

CEO - PhD Economics and Financial Science

Dr Fourie has with over 20 years of international experience, primarily in financial services, and has served on multiple boards and held senior roles in banking, capital markets and payments. She was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and a director of AusPayNet in September 2016.

Chris Campbell


Mr Campbell is Head of Payments Policy and Strategy at Westpac Group. He was appointed by Westpac Banking Corporation as a director in April 2003.

Jennifer Clark


Ms Clark has an extensive background in business, finance and governance through a career as a Non-Executive Director since 1991 and as a Banker for over 20 years. She was appointed as an independent director in June 2014.

Paul Franklin

B Sc, M Comm, EMBA, F Finsia, MAICD

Mr Franklin is General Manager Payments at National Australia Bank Ltd. He was appointed by National Australia Bank as a director in October 2017.


David Jay


Mr Jay is Chief Executive Officer of Australian Settlements Limited. He was appointed by Building Society members as a director in August 2010. 

Craig Kennedy

MBA (Heriot Watt, Edinburgh), GAICD

Mr Kennedy is Managing Director at Cuscal Limited. He was appointed by Credit Union members as a director in August 2016.

Kees Kwakernaak


Mr Kwakernaak is Managing Director at First Data Network Australia. He was appointed by Electing Members as a director in October 2016.

Olivia McArdle

B Comm (Accounting & Law), MBA, CA

Ms McArdle is Head of Deposits and Payment Products at Macquarie Bank Limited. She was appointed by Electing Members as a director in November 2017.


Michelle McPhee


Ms McPhee is Head of Banking at the Reserve Bank of Australia. She was appointed by the Reserve Bank of Australia as a director in February 2017.

Kate Mulligan


Ms Mulligan has more than 28 years’ experience in financial services, business and the law, including senior roles at Allens, St George Bank and ANZ. She was appointed as an independent director in June 2014.

Stuart Woodward

BA (Hons), F Fin, GAICD

Mr Woodward is General Manager, Payments Representation, Cash-Flow and Transaction Services, Institutional Banking and Markets at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. He was appointed by the Commonwealth Bank of Australia as a director in February 2005.
